A cappella & choral arranging
From 2007 to 2012, Rachel was the faculty director of Baldwin Charm, Mary Baldwin College's (now University) all-female pop a cappella ensemble. She developed her arranging skills writing for this group and has since written custom arrangements for other groups as well. After moving to Germany in 2012, she founded the a cappella ensemble operAcappella in 2014 with soprano Bethany Barber. In addition to singing in and managing the group, Rachel writes many of the arrangements they perform. Her a cappella arrangements are characterized by lush, sometimes complex harmonies and unexpected turns. She is especially fond of mashups. Some of her arrangements are available for purchase at Sheet Music Plus.
Rachel also writes choral arrangements with and without accompaniment for three- and four-voice choirs; most are tailored for inTONation.
